YOUR GAME. YOUR INFORMATION.

Privacy policy.

Here’s what SportStream processes, why it is needed, and how you can control it.

Effective and last updated: October 24, 2026

The essentials: SportStream uses your camera and microphone to stream to your chosen YouTube channel. Google handles sign-in. Optional remote scoreboard control uses a third-party messaging service. You choose what you broadcast and who you share it with.

1. About this policy

This policy applies to the SportStream app and its website at sportstream.teammgt.ca. SportStream is a free app for broadcasting youth sports. For questions about the app or our handling of personal information, contact support@teammgt.ca.

The app integrates with YouTube API Services. Google and YouTube handle information under their own policies, including the Google Privacy Policy. Use of YouTube features is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

2. Information we process

InformationPurpose and handling
Camera and microphoneCapture live video and audio when you use broadcast features. Your stream is transmitted to YouTube. Camera and microphone access require your device permissions.
Google authorizationGoogle sign-in provides authorization tokens that let SportStream perform the YouTube actions you request. SportStream does not receive your Google password.
YouTube channel and broadcast dataChannel identifiers and names, broadcast titles, visibility settings, live-stream configuration, stream credentials, and broadcast status are processed to set up and manage streams. Where supported, channel-management permissions can also support selecting a managed channel.
Game and app settingsTeam names, scores, sets, period, clock settings, selected logos, video quality, orientation, and related preferences are used to configure the app and its scoreboard.
Remote scoreboard sessionsWhen you use remote scoreboard control, session codes, team names, scores, sets, period, and device connection status are exchanged through a third-party MQTT broker. Network providers and the broker also receive connection information such as IP addresses.
Support messagesIf you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send so we can respond.

A logo you select may be accessed through the device’s file or photo selection features and included in your broadcast. Avoid including private information in team names, logos, broadcast titles, or support attachments.

3. How information is used

Information is used to authenticate access to your channel, create and manage broadcasts you request, transmit video and audio, render and synchronize scoreboards, remember preferences, and respond to support requests.

SportStream’s use of information received from Google APIs is limited to providing these user-facing features. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. We do not include an advertising or behavioral analytics SDK in the current app.

4. Sharing and third-party services

Google and YouTube: Your authorized requests, broadcast metadata, and live video and audio are sent to Google/YouTube. YouTube may store broadcasts, process account and technical information, and make content available according to your channel and broadcast settings. SportStream does not control YouTube’s retention, advertising, or viewer data practices.

Remote scoreboard service: The current Android remote-control feature uses the public EMQX MQTT broker at broker.emqx.io. Scoreboard messages are sent over an unencrypted connection and use retained messages, meaning the latest state can remain on the broker after devices disconnect. This service is not a private channel: the session code is the app’s access control, and a person with the code or access to broker topics may read or change scoreboard data. Do not use athlete names or sensitive information in remote scoreboard fields. See EMQ’s privacy policy for its practices.

People who view your stream: Video, voices, team details, and other information visible or audible in your broadcast are shared with its audience. Viewers may record or reshare content. An unlisted YouTube link is not confidential and can be forwarded; private viewing is subject to YouTube’s access controls.

Support and infrastructure: Email, website hosting, and network providers process information needed to operate their services. We may disclose information where required by applicable law or to respond to a lawful request. Service providers may process information outside your province or country.

5. Storage and retention

App preferences are stored on your device until you change them or clear the app’s data. The current Android app stores its saved Google authorization state in encrypted local preferences. Platform behavior and storage may differ between app versions. Stream configuration and game data are also processed in device memory while features are running.

YouTube retains broadcasts and related data under your account settings and its policies. Ending a stream or uninstalling SportStream does not delete content from YouTube. Retained remote scoreboard messages may remain on the public broker after a session ends; SportStream does not offer a guaranteed broker deletion period.

Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any related legal or operational obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of information you supplied to support. Some information may need to be retained where required by law.

6. Your choices, access, and deletion

  • Camera and microphone: Grant or revoke permission in your device settings. Streaming features that require those permissions will stop working if access is disabled.
  • Google access: Revoke SportStream’s authorization at any time in your Google Account permissions. Signing out clears the app’s local session; revoking access also withdraws Google authorization. To reconnect later, you must authorize again.
  • Device data: Clear SportStream’s app storage or delete the app to remove its local data, subject to your device’s backup and restore settings.
  • YouTube content: Use YouTube Studio or your YouTube account to manage broadcast visibility and delete videos or broadcasts. Revoking app access does not delete those videos.
  • Requests to us: Email support@teammgt.ca to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold, including support messages. Identify the relevant information without sending passwords, authorization tokens, or unnecessary details about children. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

SportStream uses your Google/YouTube authorization rather than a separate SportStream account. We cannot delete your Google account, remove copies held by viewers, or promise deletion of information retained by independent third-party services.

7. Youth sports and children

SportStream is intended to be operated by adults, such as parents, coaches, and team volunteers. It is not designed to collect account registrations directly from children. A broadcast may nevertheless include children’s images, voices, names, or other personal information.

Before recording or streaming, the person operating the app must follow league and venue rules and obtain the permissions required from participants and, where appropriate, parents or guardians. Avoid showing private conversations, changing areas, contact details, or unnecessary identifying information. Select an appropriate broadcast visibility and audience setting, including YouTube’s “made for kids” setting where applicable.

If you believe a child’s personal information has been shared improperly through SportStream, contact us at support@teammgt.ca. For removal of a video hosted on YouTube, also contact the channel owner or use YouTube’s privacy reporting process.

8. Security

We use available device and service security controls to help protect app information, including encrypted authorization storage in the current Android app. No transmission or storage method is completely secure. Public broadcasts and the public remote scoreboard broker have the visibility limits described above. Keep your device, Google account, stream credentials, and scoreboard session code secure.

9. This website

The SportStream website does not ask visitors to sign in, and its scoreboard demonstration runs only in your browser without sending the demonstration’s scores to a server. We do not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or marketing cookies to this website.

The site currently loads fonts from Google Fonts and a sports photograph from Unsplash. Your browser contacts those providers to retrieve those assets, which can expose your IP address and request information to them. See the Google Privacy Policy and Unsplash Privacy Policy. The website’s hosting provider may process technical access logs, network information, and security-related cookies as part of hosting and abuse prevention. Clicking an email link opens your email application; information is sent to us when you choose to send the message.

10. Policy changes and contact

We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.

We’re on your team.
